Chapter II · The Arrival
The Green Mouth
Day 04 · Mon, June 15, 2026
Rovinj → Lim Fjord → Rovinj · the oyster pontoon · Croatia · Istrian coast
The route, drawn quietly
Twenty minutes inland, the sea narrows into a long green corridor between karst hills — the Lim Fjord. Wooden pontoons sit on the water like quiet animals. You eat oysters opened in front of you, drink cold malvazija, throw the shells back into the place they came from. Clay drinks from a metal bowl in the shade. Back at Amarin by three, the afternoon still long.

The Planned Day
Written before the day was lived. Held lightly. Will be replaced as it happens.
The shape of the day
A half-day inland to the Lim Fjord. Oysters and Malvazija on a wooden pontoon over green water, then the slow drive back through the Istrian inland. Pool and shade by mid-afternoon. A small adventure that doesn't break the rest.
What to do
- 01The green water of the fjord — almost still, almost a lake.
- 02Oysters opened in front of you, lemon, a glass of cold Malvazija.
- 03The slow drive back through the Istrian inland — vines, dry-stone walls, a single bell tower on a hill.
- 04Pool and shade at Amarin by 16:00.
A loose rhythm
- 09:30Leave Amarin. Twenty minutes east into the fjord.
- 10:00Arrive at the pontoon. Take a table at the water's edge.
- 10:30 – 13:00Oysters, mussels, white wine. Slow.
- 14:00Back at the bungalow. Hammock, then pool.
- EveningRovinj harbour for dinner — or stay in, grill on the deck.
Why this day
A small adventure that doesn't break the rest. You return more relaxed than you left.
How it will feel
Green, briny, unhurried.
Practical notes
- · Bring cash for the pontoon — cards aren't always taken.
- · Sun hat. The water reflects everything.
- · Clay's leash on the boards — the planks are narrow.
- · Back at Amarin: Clay swims at Kastelan cove (5 min south on the coastal path), not the main Blue Flag beach.
