Out of Garda at 05:30, empty motorway, Clay sleeping. Four hours later — Piran. Late breakfast at the harbour. Walk past the lighthouse to the rocks. The first Adriatic on the skin. Brief. Real. Then south, one more hour, into Rovinj before the afternoon settles.

Who left this here

Roman found this song months before the day. Same name as the day. Same Mediterranean evening, same salt, same watching couples who've loved a long time. The song already remembered the trip — it just had to wait for the road to catch up.

The Planned Day

Written before the day was lived. Held lightly. Will be replaced as it happens.

The shape of the day

Out of Garda before the heat. East across the top of Italy, past Verona and Trieste, over the Slovenian border. By late morning, Piran — the salt ritual: a long late breakfast at the harbour, then the walk past the lighthouse to the rocks at the tip. The first Adriatic on the skin. Brief, real. Back in the car for one more hour, south into Istria, into Rovinj before the afternoon settles.

What to do

  • 01Late breakfast at the Piran harbour — two hours, no rush.
  • 02The walk past the lighthouse at Punta Madona to the rocks at the tip — the first Adriatic on the skin.
  • 03One more hour south, into Rovinj before the afternoon heat.

A loose rhythm

  1. 05:30Out of Garda. Empty motorway. Clay sleeping in the back.
  2. 09:30Park at Piran. Walk to the harbour. Late breakfast — two unhurried hours.
  3. 12:00The walk past Punta Madona lighthouse. The rocks at the tip. Quick swim — first salt.
  4. 14:00Back in the car. South through Istria.
  5. 15:30Arrive Maistra Amarin. Drop the bags. The afternoon settles around you.

Why this day

Piran is the threshold — not a stop, a portal. You step out of the car landlocked and you step back in carrying salt. From there, Rovinj isn't a destination either. It's the place the day finally lets you stop.

How it will feel

Salt on the skin by noon. By dusk, four walls that are yours for four nights.

Practical notes

  • · Park in Piran at Garage Arze or Fornače — then walk in. The old town is car-free.
  • · Bring a quick-dry towel for the lighthouse rocks. No facilities out there.
  • · Maistra Amarin check-in from 15:00 — no rush, the day arrives with you.

Awaiting the day
