The Planned Day

Written before the day was lived. Held lightly. Will be replaced as it happens.

The shape of the day

The other half-day excursion: Kotor old town. Be at the city gate by 08:00, before the cruise crowd. Walk the marble lanes, climb a few flights of the fortress wall for the view, coffee in a hidden square. Out by eleven. Back at Blanc & Bleu in time for lunch and a long afternoon at the pool.

What to do

  • 01Empty marble streets at sunrise. Stone cool under the hand.
  • 02Climb the first 200 steps of the fortress wall — enough for the view, not so far that it's a hike.
  • 03Coffee at one of the cafés on the small inner squares — Trg od Mlijeka or Trg od Salate.

A loose rhythm

  1. 07:15Out of Kamenari. 25 min around the bay to the Kotor parking by Sea Gate.
  2. 08:00Walk the empty old town. Climb a stretch of the wall.
  3. 10:00Coffee in a hidden square. Out before the buses.
  4. LunchBack across the narrows. Lunch at the hotel or in Kamenari village.
  5. AfternoonPool. Shade. Read. Last evening — pack lightly for the short hop tomorrow.

Why this day

Kotor done right is a discipline: arrive before the city wakes up, leave before it gets crowded. Then come home to a hotel where you don't have to perform. That's the trick of staying in Kamenari instead of Kotor itself.

How it will feel

Quietly impressed, but unburdened. You took the photo and gave the city back.

Practical notes

  • · Tomorrow's check-in: Luštica Bay, from 15:00. The Kamenari–Lepetane ferry runs every 15 min — a 25 min total drive.

Awaiting the day

Photos, essay, food, music — to be added when this day is lived.
